"Imagine..." by Bob Perks

"Imagine..."
That you are beautiful.
That you are loved.
That people think about you and want you to be happy.
That you can start over again at any time in your life.
That it is never too late to change.
That you impact the lives of others everyday in a positive way.
That you are held in high esteem.
That you are worthy.
That you are never alone.
That you can have a life filled with joy and happiness even when you are facing life's challenges.
That you can rise up after a fall.
That you can accomplish great things in small steps.
That your smile lights up a room.
That the little things you do make a big difference.
That when you are sad people worry.
That when you are gone you are missed.

I Believe in you!...Imagine that!

"It doesn't take much"

I might find fault in my day...too cold, too hot, not enough sun, or not enough clouds to fit my mood.
It doesn't take much to remind me that I should be grateful for the way it is, because not all days are to my liking, but all days are just perfect the way they are.

I might not like the way my life is going, too fast, too slow, not enough success, not enough time to relax and enjoy it or not enough to do to make my life productive.

But it doesn't take much to be reminded that my life is in His hands and not "if" I fall but when, He will lift me up again, but I must stand on my own.  If I don't like it, it's up to me to change it.

I asked God "what can I do for you?"

He replied, "It doesn't take much, just believe in me as I believe in you!"

Make it a great day...it doesn't take much!

Lost in the pages

I have more books than I'll ever read.

I have books I've read and when I return to them it's like reading them for the first time.

It's not that they didn't impress me the first time I read them.  I just read them for different reasons.  I saw things in those pages I needed at that moment.

Re-reading brings to light things I need now.

I remember growing up and having a large gold covered Bible.  I loved thumbing through the pages because the pictures where so incredible.

Was it read?  Perhaps by my mother.  It was a gift frommy brother.  I came to know it as "The" place she kept remembrances.

As I turned the pages I'd find pressed flowers, locks of hair, Funeral home cards of deceased relatives and newspaper clippings.

I have since discovered that it's not always what is printed in the books that is important, but what you find.

Today, I found a slip of paper in the pages of a Norman Vincent Peale book with the following;

"Make me a point of contact, Lord, whereby the Spirit of God may enter into those I touch, whether by the word I say, the prayer I pray, or the life I live."  Irish Missal

It was exactly what I needed to read.   The picture below is my well worn copy of
The New Testament.  You should see what's in those pages!

"Hoping for 90%"

Thinking about doing the basement

I had to have my computer serviced recently.  I was in between the old proverbial rock and a hard place.  The truth is, today it is sometimes cheaper to buy a new computer than it is to fix it.  Sadly that truth applies to so many things.

For instance we have a coffee maker.  When the glass pot breaks it costs almost half of what it would cost to buy a new one.

We have become a throw away society!

Now, don't tell that to my wife.  She would be quick to bring up my basement.  Like the attic, I have been planning on cleaning out the basement for years.

Well, I did get to the attic last year.   Since I had to finish off the insulation I started more than a decade ago, the attic is now a mess again.

Back to the basement...it's a mess.  I save everything.  Oh, I'm not a hoarder.  I save things like the extra screws that came with a piece of furniture.  Why I always end up with extra screws I don't know.  My wife says it has something to do with me not reading the instructions before I put it together.

Go figure!

Then there's the hose that has a leak.  I just need to cut and mend it.

Oh, and the extra insulation from the attic because I bought too much.

There's all kinds of electrical extensions and the handy plastic wrap arounds I haven't used.  Next time I use an 150 foot extension I'll wrap it up.  I mean how often do you use 150 foot extension?

Okay, so I got off the track here.

When the computer man was finished he handed me papers that included an evaluation.  My car dealership does the same thing.  They don't just hand it to you.  They tell you "We appreciate no lower than" (fill in the number).  If you aren't happy tell me now."

I don't want to argue but I haven't gotten in my car yet.  How do I know now if I am happy or not?

The computer guy said, "We want to be 90% satisfaction."

I thought, "Why not 100%?'  I mean 90% means some were unhappy and most were happy.  But why not 100%.  I mean it's a computer.  I don't want it 90%.  I want it 100%

Then I thought about myself.  Do I always give 100%?  Am I always trying for 100%?
Are there days when I say, "I give up!'?

Yes, yes, and yes.

So, how can I expect 100% from others?

I just stopped for a moment and thought about this.  Because I am writing this I now need to
clean the basement.

Maybe I'll just aim for 90%.  I'll shove everything else in the attic!

Give everything your very best.  God did when He made YOU!
"I believe in you!"
